It was a busy and exciting day at our Bury St Edmunds site today!
British Sugar’s decarbonisation project is moving full steam ahead, with three brand new evaporators now successfully installed. This ambitious initiative is set to reduce site emissions by 20,000 tonnes of carbon per year and is scheduled for commissioning ahead of the 2025/26 sugar beet campaign this autumn.
Pipetech was entrusted with the fabrication and installation of all required pipework, including both stainless and carbon steel systems. Piping ranged from DN25 to DN1200, highlighting the scale and complexity of the project.

Leveraging our in-house drawing capabilities, the team ensured every section was fabricated and installed to meet strict quality assurance standards, aligning with the specific operational needs of the new evaporator systems.
We’re proud to be playing a part in such a meaningful step toward a lower-carbon future.
