As our industry continues to evolve, we’re investing in smarter solutions, better communication and technology that supports the safety of our employees. From the introduction of digital reporting tools to caution led processes on site, health and safety is at the core of our operations.
A key development we have seen is the launch of the Pipetech Safety Portal. Bringing accident reporting, essential forms, induction content and PPE requests into one place, it’s simple for our teams to stay informed and supported.
Our site teams across the business regularly discuss health and safety issues by way of group toolbox talks. Owing to the broad scope of industries we operate in, topics will range from mental health awareness, seasonal safety risks to practical wellbeing advice. These sessions are an important part of how we maintain a strong safety culture, encouraging open discussion. We’ve also strengthened our internal support network, with eight colleagues from different departments recently completing their Qualsafe Level 3 Mental Health First Aid qualification.
The start of this year saw the rollout of anti-crush technology on MEWPs, such as the Overwatch system. Designed to keep our teams within safe working zones, the Overwatch technology automatically stops scissor lifts whenever a potential crushing situation is detected. By stepping in before the risk escalates, sites become a safer more predictable environment. At Belgrove House, we utilised in‑house prefabricated modular risers produced off site, significantly minimising on‑site works and reducing risk.
Pipetech Offsite Engineering is strengthening its approach to health and safety with a series of new initiatives. The team has introduced fortnightly safety talks and project debriefs, alongside a renewed focus on capturing defects and driving ongoing improvements of project outcomes.
We’ll continue building on this progress as we look for new ways to strengthen safety across the business.
